Namche Bazaar is a colourful and lively village, "Himalaya's New York" (3450 m). There we had a rest day and made a short trek above the village to tolerate lack of oxygen.

After a night at Dughla (4600 m) there was bright snow on ground and blinding sunshine. It was fynny to get burned the tiny point under the nose between nostrils. The reflecing sunshine from snow hit the point.

A very steep hill after Lobuche (4930 m) force the glimbers to take breath every 2 min.

The blue and red buildings are Gorakshep (5170 m), the nearest village to Mt. Everest.

Mt. Everest Base Camp (5364 m). Glimbers going to the summit of Mt. Everest stay two weeks in the yellow and blue tents behind us. There are hudreds of tents in April-May when the weather is best for glimbing top of the highest mountain of the world, 8848 m. |
